I'm Being Raised by Villains - Chapter 5
<Chapter 5>
I widened my eyes at his unexpected offer.
In the past, and even now, there were barely any memories of me playing with friends my age.
Although I had entered the body of a young child, my soul had not turned into that of one. But somehow, my heart was pounding with joy.
“Is that owkay?”
“Of course…”
The innocent face of the boy my age, who had a bright smile, changed into that of a devil’s in an instant.
“Of course it’s not okay!”
He pushed my shoulder slightly.
Since I was sitting on the chair, my body staggered a bit. It didn’t hurt much, but I felt awful.
“Hey, there’s something my mom always says to me. Do you want to know what she said? Don’t play with children without parents. And you don’t have parents, do you?”
“…”
“Hey, Kairon. What are you doing?”
“She said she wanted to play with us and begged me.”
When in the world did I say that?
He was the one who said that he would let me play with them. I felt pissed off and indignant.
“Eek, what?”
“Ugh, the child who cried at the meeting the last time.”
“Ah, that child.”
The children surrounded me and rendered me unable to even flinch.
“Hey, stop. Do you think she rents a place here since she doesn’t have a home? How am I supposed to play with a homeless child? Mom and Dad told me not to play with homeless children because they were inferior.”
“…”
Then, the kid who pushed me looked at me and mocked, “You have no parents, no home, no surname, and no friends, right? What the hell do you have?”
Those were the very words which stabbed at my trauma. My fists trembled at the blatant sarcasm in their remarks.
‘I have to hold back.’
As I clenched my fists, someone tapped my head.
‘But what’s the point of holding back?’
With that abrupt thought, I made my move.
I was about to slap him in the face and grab his hair, but the little jerk flinched and backed away, laughing meanly.
“You know, if you hit me, you’ll have to pay, right? My mom said it was called comparation money after getting hit!”
Upon hearing those words, my hands reflexively stopped. Every word this little rascal uttered annoyed me.
‘This is full of malice.’
Snip, the sound of my rationality snapping could be heard.
For your information, I wasn’t the kind of person to put up with such open malice.
I hate showing weakness. That’s why I’m always smiling…
I’d rather bite like a dog.
“Hmph, you don’t even have money.”
“…at.”
“What?”
I ran at full speed towards a nearby rock which was the size of my face. I clenched my teeth and picked it up.
“Swo what!!!”
With that, I staggered, ran, and threw it at that brat.
Bang-!
There was a loud sound.
Of course, a small rock the size of my face could not fly far and fell right in front of me.
A five-year-old lifted a rock and threw it, but it couldn’t even fly anywhere near the brats.
Still, the kids must have gotten so tired of it that they made the sound “Yikes!” and stepped back.
“Even if you have pawents, it’s way bettwer off without pawents if they have the same pewsonality as yours, you idiots!!!”
“Hey! I’m gonna tell my mom!”
“M-Me too…!”
“Hey, let’s just go. She’s pitiful.”
Somehow, it was remarks like these which could make you fall into a rage.
“My brother said that kids who have nothing in their lives from the start don’t know what they are going to do in the future.”
At those words, the children who surrounded me earlier rushed to move away from me, as if they were avoiding germs.
I clenched my fists and watched as the children moved away.
“Alswo, it’s called ‘compensation’, you idiot!”
My hands are flushed red. Perhaps it’s because I was forcibly holding a rock. Looks like I’ll be getting blisters soon.
“What? It’s not like I’ve been acting strong for a day or two alone.”
Sigh.
I rubbed my hot eyes with the back of my hand before sitting back down on the bench, squeezing my lips together whilst feeling indignant.
“It’s alwight.”
I gently patted my thigh.
“I’m used to it.” I murmured to myself, trying to relieve the bitter feeling I felt.
‘Even in my previous life, I’ve endured many hardships with my will alone.’
It wasn’t the first or second time something like this had happened.
In my previous life, I was born in a rich family with a golden spoon. I became the eldest daughter in the family of all things, and was hated because of that.
Worst of all, my mother gave birth to two younger brothers after me.
At first, my mother received a cold gaze from my grandmother and grandfather after giving birth to me. However, after giving birth to my two younger brothers, she was officially recognized as the proper daughter-in-law and received an apartment in some expensive land in the Gangnam district.
[Hey, aren’t you embarrassed to wear such clothes in this kind of school?]
[Because you’re this f*cking indecent we’re screwed, you know! I’m really ashamed that a girl like you is our older sister! Fxck.]
[Fxck, you b*tch sister! I told you to not appear before me, right?!]
There was no reason for the ugly duckling of a creep to appear in the house.
It just happens whenever someone in power ignores and despises someone who holds no power.
The wide clothes which were clearly designed for men, the school uniforms which were so small that they were about to burst open, and the meager amount of pocket money compared to that of my younger brothers.
Since my home was in Gangnam, which was a good district, I inevitably went to a good school. As such, I became the odd one out compared to my brothers.
At first, it was just minor discrimination.
Even when eating, all the good parts were theirs to eat, and the parts which were relatively tasteless were mine.
Although there were new clothes bought, none of them were mine. All the expensive and good things went to my brothers, and I would be given the clothes they were tired of.
My father ignored me, and my mother neglected me. As such, my younger brothers realized that I was something that could be ‘ignored’.
The little children who learned about such a hierarchical relationship at such a young age were terrifying.
There were times where they stole my coat and tossed me outside in the middle of winter. There were also times where they dropped my backpack in the mud so as to take a picture of me struggling and then spread it around in a group chat at school.
I rebelled a little.
[Y-You… Did you just hit me? Mom! Mom! Noona hit me!]
[What? Let me see. Oh my God, the wound… We’re going to Grandma’s house next week, what should we do? Let’s go to the hospital right away. Cha Miso! Go to your room right now! Get down on your knees and raise your hands! I’ll deal with you when I get back.]
But on all of those occasions, look at just how much my family shielded me…
‘Ugh, let’s not think about it,’ I shook my head in a downcast mood.
“Right, candy!”
I slipped out the candy Myla had given me as a snack to secretly bring in, pulled it out, and shoved it into my mouth.
I felt better when the sweet item filled my mouth.
As I was sitting still, a pure white cat jumped up from somewhere and sat down on the bench chair in a familiar manner.
I couldn’t help but smile when it suddenly showed up.
“Hello, kitty.”
Meow~
As if answering my call, the pure white cat, which had given a long meow, curled up and closed its eyes.
I crept closer to the cat’s side and felt the warmth of its soft fur and skin from touching it slightly.
“Kitty, do you want to be my friend…?”
I’ve always liked animals.
That was because animals always treated me the same, regardless of how much or how little I had. They returned me the same as I gave them.
“I’m not really desperate for friends… We can just sit here and talk occasionally. Do you come here often?”
Meooww~
The cat gave a drawn out meow once more.
The cat seemed happy when I stroked it.
“What if the brats from earlier really tell their mom?”
If they really asked for compensation, it might reach Duke Mirel’s ears.
‘What if he tells me to pay them the money and leave…’
I acted strong, but when I thought about the problems I had in real life, I sighed deeply.
I felt pathetic for lamenting about my plight to a cat.
Every time I patted it, the cat purred. It seemed to purr whenever it liked the pats, meaning it felt good.
‘I want to keep the cat.’
They say it’s good to have an animal by your side when you’re lonely.
Since the annex is very spacious, wouldn’t it be okay to have at least one cat?
“Hey, shall we live togetwer?”
I jumped off the bench and tried to hold the cat in my arms.
Meoww~
However, the cat dodged me as if it was bothered and jumped down into the bushes.
Meoww~
Meow!
Meow!
Then, in the bushes, the other cats showed their faces.
The white cat stood up and looked up at me.
‘I don’t think it can really understand me though.’
It was as if it could really understand what I was saying. Perhaps I was mistaken.
“Ah, so you have a famiwy.”
Then I can’t do anything about it.
I sat back on the bench, smiling and waving my hands.
The white cat groomed the other cats several times before disappearing back into the bushes with the other cats.
“I’m not a kid.”
I shook my head. Thinking about the past seemed to have made me extremely depressed.
“I should go to Myla.”
I wondered if this feeling would quickly go away if I acted cute and ate pudding.
I jumped out of the bench chair and stepped back to return to the annex.
I never expected for someone to be watching as everything played out.
