OK the reason why the emperor sided with Bri is because he see his previous self with Bri he did said it including not trusting the person he trusted the most “Family” and not making the same mistake like his Father “abandoning and killing child”.
But what trigger it the most is when Bri runs away for the entire day its the same as him running away from the castle but also different since he is afraid no longer seeing his daughter or to see him again but dead just like his brother that’s why he insisted to find her personally.
