<Chapter 64>

“What’s wrong, Madam?” Alice asked, looking puzzled as she watched my startled expression toward empty air. I nearly pointed at the void but quickly redirected my hand toward the stone fragments on the table, my lips moving soundlessly for a moment.

“This… this seems close to being done, but too many pieces are missing…”

“Exactly. We’ve matched so many, but it’s still not enough,” Alice agreed.

“Sir Ferry, are there no other fragments?”

Even Monica turned to Ferry with the same question. Ferry tilted his head slightly, covering the left side of his face with his palm. Then his expression hardened in a way that immediately gave away who he was mimicking.

“I got it! My husband must have the remaining pieces. He once mentioned that Ferry gave him something like a stone fragment as a gift.”

“…You gifted the Duke a fragment like this?”

Alice shot Ferry a strange look. Misunderstanding it as praise, Ferry grinned proudly.

“Wait here. I’ll go and retrieve it,” I offered.

“I’ll go instead.”

“No, you guys struggle to communicate with my husband, don’t you?”  

“…But recently…”  

“Hm?”

Monica seemed on the verge of saying something but shook her head instead.

“No, it’s nothing. I’ll accompany you then, Madam.”

“Hmm… in that case, let’s just take this with us and piece it together there.”

Alice stayed behind with Flurry to continue working on the house, while I left with Monica and Ferry to head to Temenos’ office.

Knock, knock.

Upon knocking, a voice from within granted permission to enter. I pushed the door slightly ajar, poking my head inside.

“Are you busy?”

Temenos, who had been bent over his paperwork, looked up at my voice, startled. Behind him, David greeted me with a polite bow.

“Greetings, Madam.”

“You can lift your head. Looks like you’re swamped. I’ll come back later when…”

“I’ve taken care of the urgent matters for now. Come in.”

“Oh, really?”

Wow, great timing on my part!

As I stepped inside, Temenos pushed the stack of documents in front of him toward David, who took them with a weary expression before leaving the room.

“Please, have a seat. I’ll have tea brought in.”

“Oh, tea’s not necessary. I just wanted to show you something.”

I placed a heap of stone fragments on his desk.

Temenos examined them with a curious expression, then picked up two of the fragments I had pieced together. A realization dawned on his face.

“Are these the fragments Ferry brought you before?”

“Yes! These aren’t just ordinary stones—they seem to be broken pieces of something. Once pieced together, it might form a complete object. Do you still have the fragments Ferry gave you?”

“Yes. Here they are.”

Remaining seated, Temenos leaned down to open a drawer beneath his desk, retrieving several stone fragments.

“What’s that underneath them?”

“What are you referring to?”

“The red thing… oh, is it a book?”

Bam!

Temenos abruptly slammed the drawer shut. Startled by the loud noise, I flinched. Temenos cleared his throat awkwardly and gestured toward the pile of stone fragments on the desk.

“Let’s focus on piecing these together first. I’m curious to see what they form.”

‘Strange… It feels like he’s trying to change the subject…’

Though suspicious, I couldn’t pinpoint a reason and instead joined him in assembling the fragments. Since the puzzle was already halfway done, it came together faster than expected.

Finally, when all the pieces were in place:

“This shape… it’s definitely…”

Temenos murmured as if something had dawned on him.

Restoration progress of ???: 95% complete.

??? is now restorable.

I had a hunch as well, so I immediately pressed ‘Yes’ as soon as the window appeared.

And then—

Flash!

A radiant light enveloped the fully assembled fragments. Moments later, the light vanished, and a new notification appeared before me.

The ‘Oracle Tablet’ has been restored.

Gasp! It can be registered as a key item?  

‘Of course, yes!’

I pressed ‘Yes’ without hesitation.

The tablet, now fully restored to its original state, disappeared from sight.

“Oh my!”

Monica, who had been watching quietly, let out a startled shout, and Temenos widened his eyes in disbelief. I quickly opened my system window to check.

I noticed that ‘Oracle Tablet’ was highlighted in bold. When I tapped on it, the tablet reappeared in my palm.

“How did you do that? Was it magic?” Temenos asked in astonishment.

“Seriously? Did you just ask the Saintess if she used magic? It’s divine power!” I answered smugly, gazing at the tablet in my hands.

Unbelievable. A portable oracle tablet! Never in my wildest dreams did I think I’d obtain something like this.

‘With this, I don’t need to go to the chapel anymore or wait for a time when it’s empty!’

Grateful for such impeccable timing, I hugged Ferry tightly.

“Thank you, Ferry! I’ll make good use of it!”

Smiling brightly, I ruffled his hair until it looked like a bird’s nest. Yet, I felt a sharp gaze on the back of my head.

Turning around, I found Temenos staring intently at the tablet, his expression grave.

“Is that truly the oracle tablet?”

“Yes, do you want to see it?”

Since I was planning to receive a new oracle anyway, I placed the tablet on the desk and prepared to demonstrate.

‘Dear God, please bless me with another helpful oracle this time.’

‘Yes!’

As I pressed the button, the tablet emitted a bright light, and a new window appeared above it.

“Wow…”

I heard Monica’s gasp of wonder behind me and felt sure that Temenos was making a similar expression. Confidently, I raised my chin, only to see—

“Madam, what’s wrong?” Monica asked, puzzled, while Temenos also looked at me curiously.

“What does the oracle say? It’s written in red letters, which I’ve never seen before. Does it warn of a great calamity?”

“This is the first time you’ve seen red letters? Isn’t this the first time you’re seeing an oracle at all?”

At my retort, Temenos averted his eyes and coughed awkwardly. He must’ve been caught in his lie.

When I continued glaring, Temenos finally bowed his head.

“…I apologize for back then. I won’t do it again.”

‘Well, that was quick.’

But now isn’t the time to dwell on that.

I stared at the red text on the window and tapped it with my finger.

‘Normally, tapping here would reveal the content…’

“Well… the oracle is blocked. God decided that I’m not allowed to know this yet and hid it from me. Isn’t that funny? They could’ve just shown me a different message instead!”

As if reacting to my words, another window popped up.

‘…Still only two, huh.’

I thought that surpassing 5,000 might allow me to receive three oracles, but apparently not.

One was already a lost cause, so I decided to just go for another. Pressing the ‘Yes’ button, I muttered, ‘If this one’s flagged as a spoiler too, I’m going on strike. That’s it.’

And then, a new oracle appeared atop the oracle tablet.

My jaw dropped involuntarily. At the same time, my hands moved on their own, seizing Temenos by the collar.
