Chapter 6
“…”
Even without Hajun saying anything more, Eunjae could tell.
She had clearly told him that she was nervous, yet he still looked at her like a child who had accepted a political marriage without any say in the matter.
Eunjae whispered to herself with an aggrieved expression.
“…But I’m an adult.”
“You’re an adult, but you’re still young.”
At his cold remark, Eunjae bit her lips tightly.
Even when he had called her his wife, it seemed he still didn’t see her as a woman.
Eunjae stared at his expressionless face before asking impulsively.
“Are you perhaps seeing another woman or… something like that?”
Not because Hajun was her first love and the person she had a crush on.
Hajun was simply an incredible man.
So it was entirely possible that he could be seeing someone else, a mature and sophisticated woman unlike her.
She had only made a guess, but a faint crease appeared between Hajun’s brows.
As if it wasn’t even worth denying.
Rather than being hurt by that reaction, Eunjae felt relieved and unconsciously let out a relieved voice.
“If that’s not the case… then I’m okay.”
Hajun let out a hollow laugh.
“I’m not sure you properly understand what a political marriage means.”
The fact that even his amused voice sounded attractive made her think she was truly in trouble.
Then he continued.
“Is that the only thing you want to ask?”
“…”
“We’ll have to have a child soon too.”
The moment the word child came from the lips of the man staring straight into her eyes, Eunjae’s face immediately flushed.
Even though it was obvious that he had no interest in her, the thought that she might share physical intimacy with him made her heart pound.
Afraid that he would notice her thoughts, Eunjae quickly lowered her head.
“You said you were nervous.”
“…”
“That’s why I’m giving you one last chance now.”
Once her flushed face had calmed down a little, Eunjae vaguely understood what he meant.
In the end, marrying the man who would lead Kwonil Construction meant she would have to focus more on childbirth and raising children than on her own future.
The fact that he seemed concerned for her made her heart flutter again, especially when she saw the image of the man who had helped her in the past overlap with him.
“Promise me you won’t see another woman after we get married. Then I’m okay with everything.”
“You’re okay with everything? Do you even know what else I might say?”
A faint breath escaped between Hajun’s lips.
Seeing him look at her with those deep eyes while speaking as if he had no interest at all, Eunjae felt stubborn.
She picked up the wine glass and emptied it in one go.
That wasn’t enough, so she poured herself another glass and drank it all again.
After drinking about three glasses in succession, Eunjae moved her flushed lips.
“Please… don’t treat me like a child.”
Although she had never had a boyfriend, and therefore had never experienced her first kiss or anything beyond that, she wasn’t completely ignorant.
Even despite her reaction, Hajun’s expression remained unchanged.
He looked at her like a child and clearly didn’t believe her.
Eunjae wanted to be seen as a woman by him.
“…I’m about to become your wife, so please treat me accordingly.”
Her voice trembled slightly as she conveyed her sincerity.
She filled her wine glass again with hazy eyes and tried to drink, but a large hand stopped her.
“Ah…”
Hajun took her glass without hesitation and brought it to his own lips.
He didn’t take his eyes off her until he finished the wine.
“Let’s get married.”
After placing down the now empty glass, he spoke.
“I’ll treat you like my wife.”
“…”
“Look forward to it.”
* * *
Blink.
Blink.
Eunjae’s heavy eyelids slowly opened and closed.
Perhaps because she had quickly drunk the wine to feel less embarrassed in front of Hajun, she suddenly became intoxicated.
She had desperately tried to stay sober because she couldn’t show her drunken appearance to a man who already treated her like a child.
But…
The last thing she remembered was getting into the back seat of Hajun’s car.
Eunjae suddenly sat upright.
“You’re awake.”
Without even fixing the hair covering her eyes, Eunjae turned toward the heavy voice beside her.
With his gaze fixed on a tablet PC, Hajun seemed to be working.
“I’m sorry.”
The car engine was off, and there was no driver in the driver’s seat.
Looking outside, she realized they were already in front of her house.
“You must be busy, and because of me… Thank you for bringing me home.”
“You don’t need to apologize. I wasn’t here for long.”
Hajun lowered the tablet and met her eyes.
Eunjae instinctively held her breath.
He felt completely different from when she saw him under the bright restaurant lights.
Perhaps it was because he looked even more captivating.
Realizing they were so close in the dark and narrow car that their breaths could almost mix, her face grew hot and she couldn’t think of what to say.
If she stayed with him any longer, he might think she was acting like a child again.
Eunjae quickly grabbed her bag.
“Then I’ll go inside now.”
Unfortunately, she didn’t need to ask him to contact her or say she would contact him.
She had been told that the adults would handle everything related to the marriage.
Just as Eunjae was about to greet him and get out of the car, Hajun’s low voice stopped her.
“I heard you don’t have any dating experience.”
“…Yes.”
“Then I guess you haven’t kissed anyone either.”
His deep eyes traveled from hers to her nose and then settled on her slightly parted lips.
Under Hajun’s deep and unreadable gaze, Eunjae swallowed dryly.
Why was he asking this?
She didn’t want to be treated like a child even in this moment.
Gathering her courage, she placed both hands on his face.
Then, so she wouldn’t see his reaction, she closed her eyes and pressed her lips against his.
The soft sensation of their lips touching made Eunjae hold her breath.
She carefully pulled away.
When she finally opened her trembling eyelids, she immediately met Hajun’s eyes.
His eyes were so deep that they seemed capable of peeling away every layer of her.
The look in his eyes seemed to ask what she had just done.
Yet it also carried a lingering desire.
When Eunjae tried to move back, Hajun reached out and grabbed her waist with one arm.
Held in the man’s firm arms, Eunjae was startled by his burning body heat.
She struggled in surprise, but she couldn’t move.
Hajun’s breath grew closer and hotter, covering her entire face.
The masculine line of his neck as he tilted his head was beautiful.
When Eunjae closed her eyes again, Hajun’s warmth quickly covered her lips completely.
“Hm…”
Hajun’s lips moved against hers, deepening the kiss.
Eunjae trembled, clutching her chest as the overwhelming sensation made her lose herself.
“Haah…”
As if noticing her quickening breath, Hajun briefly pulled away.
After confirming that she was desperately catching her breath, he tilted his head the other way and kissed her again.
The sounds of their kiss echoed through the narrow and dark car.
Eunjae’s body was gradually pushed back by his strength until she fell against the seat.
