If this story were from the perspective of the Countess then Aiden and Erin would DEFINITELY be the villains who almost brought about the complete downfall of the Zahad family (among other things). Even the emperor being anxious about the growing power of the duchy isn’t totally unfounded. They keep putting flowers around everyone and Erin is totally elated any time Aiden does anything that is extremely possessive, and they’re both so schemey and I am EATING IT UP.
