my pov regarding this story:
Most characters are so selfish doing what they want without any regard toward the aftermath of their decision (duke, sophia, jonas, Vanessa, the former emperor, franz, Judith’s father, even her sister falling in love and letting it all happen without thinking of what will happen after that night)
Worst parent award goes to: Duke and Dutchess Winterwald! Yes, the old King was a strong contestant as well, but even his old oppressive, incestuous obsession does not compare to how they fucked up both their children, up to their grandsons life! Not a speck of remorse, nor any inclination to admit fault or improve their ways! ( Yes, the Dutchess as well, bc she still doesnt show an minimum of care for Ruediger) Truly a feat and absolutely deserved!
Sometimes, it is necessary to be reminded that no matter the rank, the money, the power and everything else, a person stays a person.
I am certain that whoever will read this comment can either partially or fully agree regarding some of the events and complicated decisions made during this whole manhwa.
I am generally older than those I can meet on websites such as this one. So far, I’ve been at peace with most of the feelings I had despite what I went through and the choices I made. However there is a single feeling that will always come back to eat you alive, a feeling you should do your best to never ever feel : Regret.
Regret is the only kind of feeling you have that can’t be tamed by a logical or emotional justification. Unless we eventually create a time machine, there is no way for us to come back in time and change things. Even this whole story is about regrets, every single character has their own struggles, however which one of those characters didn’t regret their choice in their first try at life ? You can read a lot of Reincarnation or Isekai story and yet, you’ll find yourself reading about the characters, their regrets and how they try to escape those.
So this is an advice from someone who is searching a person since over 15 years now to explain a situation that happened long before and deeply regrets not having being able to explain things properly : If you have some regrets, act on it now.
If you have choices to make, be sure to ponder enough regarding the consequences to not regret them and if your choice wasn’t the best, don’t let shame or pride silence you, it will always be better to settle things right now, than regretting not being able to when it will be too late.
Every time you will feel regret, it will stab you and for some people those constant reminders of those choices you sometimes weren’t even noticing, it will drain the life out of you.

Ahh so the spoilers were true, that Jonas really planned on getting rid of Sofia.And on another note, it’s sad to see Sofia passing away in regret of not being kind and loving to her only left child his entire life, only for him to be killed later. I can imagine and understand her feelings in that moment. I guess that’ll let Refugee know that his mother actually loved him too, and they become closer now.
i still think the duke and duchess are shit parents. im sorry wasting away after your only child died is a little to late in my opinion to realise that u had a child. idc if she was obsessed with the princess and honestly the duke has no redeeming points also.
