Indeed. That’s why Ruediger is an awesome character. Sure, he might not have loved Luca in the original timeline, but he was always a dutiful person. Doing what needs to be done, always.
honestly i wouldn’t give a fuck either to the soul /body bla bla . and we kinda give the all ruigerd is acting like he doesn’t care a perfect explanation . his parents never give him a shred of love only to his brother so he doesn’t actually know how to response to love, that doesn’t mean that he didn’t love his nephew in the first run . just that he couldn’t express it words . its honestly really sad
Overall I found this very touching. But that last little bit I don’t get. Ruediger never met her when anyone else was in that body, why should he care? I suppose some people would have a vague sadness for the nasty person who used to be in that body, who is now I guess dead, but it’s not like it’s her fault or anything–I don’t even think it’s set up as her arrival evicting anyone. Wasn’t it more like, the original got so sick that we presume her soul left her body and our heroine moved into the vacant space? No harm, no foul. I might be misremembering that bit, but anyway.
The point is, if I was in love with someone and she told me there used to be a different soul/personality in her body, before I met her, I’d be really surprised, but if I believed it it wouldn’t matter–the person I love is the person I love. How she got that way is interesting background to who she is, but it doesn’t affect the “I love her” part. Why would Ruediger thinking that way make him cold or unloving? Don’t get it.

This chapter was so beautiful.
I think this time around Judith had definitely helped Ruediger change from how he was perhaps in his first life, the way Luca knew him. So yeah, Luca is wary of him and doesn’t want to have this new version of his aunt get hurt (because he cares for her). And while he maybe a regressor he is a little kid right now and is trying to protect himself the best way he knows how, and Judith by extension. I hope he can heal and see that his uncle is not the same man either. And that he himself is not the same Luca anymore either, or that he can change and grow too.
Awww poor Luca. He’s got a lot of trauma to work through.
