It’s sad, there’s no one she can call her family, even the child she spent years searching for, have turned her back towards her.
The story didn’t really depict how devastating that feels. To remember the only one who genuinely smiled back at her, was payed back with horrendous treatment, just because she was not her real daughter. She might be the villainess of the story, but the real culprit is the duke, really. He was the one who cheated with the [maid? Was it?] and treated everyone like garbage, he was so incompetent that she had to take care of everything. And the salt on the wound was that she had to take care of a child of a mistress. You might think that there’s nothing wrong with that, and you’d be correct, but think of it from a proud noble who was a [Knight commander, I think.], there is no way she’d would take it with a smile.
That being said I don’t excuse her actions. I just empathise with her, and think that the author did her dirty. She’d make a great {reincarnated as a villainous mother} MC. And by the way she looks so cool, whether you like it or not, admit it.
